Sorting the data of a data grid

The v10 application offers a powerful grid sorting feature that enables to create a personalized order for any given data grid. You can:

• Apply a simple sort order based on the data of one column (see Sorting the data of a data grid according to a single column (simple sorting))

• Apply an advanced sort order based on the data of several columns (see Sorting the data of a grid according to several columns (advanced sort))

Regardless of the type of sort order you apply to a grid, your preference is retained for the grid.

This feature is managed by a Feature Flag

The feature described in this topic, as well as all related operations, is managed by a Feature Flag. If the Feature Flag is not activated in your system, you will not see this feature in your application.

This topic describes the behavior of the simple sorting feature in data grids with the "Conditional Formatting in data grids" Feature Flag enabled. The description of the previous implementation of the feature is available here.

You can sort the data of a data grid in ascending or descending order according to the values of a given column. To do so, proceed as follows:

1. Open the data grid in which you want to work (see Viewing a Data Grid in About data grids in the v10 Application).

2. Locate, in the data grid, the column according to which you want to sort the data of the grid.

3. Hover the cursor of your mouse over the header of the column.

4. Click the icon locate at the right of the header. A contextual menu is displayed.

5. In the menu, select your preference:

   • Click Sort Up to sort the grid in ascending order according to the values of this field

   • Click Sort Down to sort the grid in descending order according to the values of this field

6. Your preference is applied and the grid is sorted on-the-fly.

To remove the applied sort order, click the icon in the sort status badge located in the data grid toolbar, as illustrated in the following figure:

Sorting the data of a grid according to several columns (advanced sort)

You can sort a data grid according to the data of several columns. This type of sorting is known as an advanced sort order.

To create an advanced sort order, proceed as follows:

1. Open the data grid with which you want to work (see Viewing a Data Grid in About data grids in the v10 Application).

2. Click the Sort button in the data grid toolbar, located above the grid. A contextual menu is displayed.

3. Click Add a sort. A new line, in which you can select a column and an order is displayed, as illustrated in the following figure:

4. Select a column in the first drop-down list.

5. Select a sorting direction in the second drop-down (Ascending or Descending).

6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 for each sort criterion (column) that you want to add.

7. Click the icon next to the each sort order in order to move them in the list and determine the order in which each criterion will be applied.

8. Click Apply. The grid is filtered according to your selection:

   • Sort indicators (chevron up and chevron down) are applied to the column header and the chevron corresponding to the applied sort direction is colored in blue.

   • An indicator, corresponding to the number of sort criteria currently applied, is displayed next to the Sort button, in the grid toolbar.

The advanced sort order is retained for the data grid.

Clearing an advanced sort order

Once you have defined an advanced sort order see (see Sorting the data of a grid according to several columns (advanced sort)), you can, at any time, remove one or several of the defined sort criteria.

To remove a sort order, proceed as follows:

1. In the relevant grid, click Sort in the toolbar located above the process grid. The list of currently defined sort orders is displayed in a contextual menu.

2. Click the " X " located on the right of the sort order that you want to remove, as illustrated in the following figure:

3. Repeat step 2 for all the sort orders that you want to remove.

4. Click Apply to confirm your changes. The contextual menu closes and the new sort status is displayed next to the Sort button.

If you want to remove all defined sort orders, repeat step 2 until all filters are cleared, and then click Apply.
