Managing comp elements
Compensation elements are the actual items that can be attributed to a payee in a compensation tree. They correspond, in the individual planner, to the actual line items to which a manager will be able to add an amount.
From the "Compensation" component, you can:
Searching for a comp element
All the compensation elements that are created in the "Compensation" component of the beqom application are made available when creating and configuring compensation trees in the beqom application. Because of this, a large number of comp elements might exist in the system, which can make finding the element that you need a bit complicated.
In order to enable you to gain time when defining a comp tree, the application provides a search tool to look for an existing comp element.
To search for a specific comp element, proceed as follows:
Open the comp tree in which you want to work (see Viewing a Comp Tree in Working with comp trees).
Enter a character string in the Search Comp Element field, located above the list of existing elements. The search is performed on-the-fly (you do not need to perform any action in order to start the search), and the list of elements is filtered out according to the entered characters, as illustrated in the following figure:
Comp element search
Viewing a comp element
To view the definition of an existing compensation element, proceed as follows:
Open the comp tree in which you want to work (see Viewing a Comp Tree in Working with comp trees).
Locate, in the list of comp elements, located on the right of the comp tree definition page, the item that you want to view. If required, you can search for the item using the provided field (see Searching for a comp element).
Click the tile corresponding to the element in the list. A contextual window, containing the definition of the element is opened, as illustrated in the following figure:

Creating a comp element
If the list of existing compensation elements does not contain any element that fits your needs for your comp tree, you can then create a new element from scratch.
To create a new comp element, proceed as follows:
Open the comp tree in which you want to work (see Viewing a Comp Tree in Working with comp trees).
Click New Comp Element, in the upper-right corner of the comp element definition page. The "New Comp Element" contextual window is opened.
-
Fill in the information related to the new comp element:
Name: name of the new comp element. Choose a descriptive name so that the purpose of the element is immediately clear.
Description: description of the comp element. You can provide here additional details about the purpose of the comp element and the context in which it should be used. Please keep in mind that the length of the description is limited to 500 characters.
Currency: choose the currency applicable for the comp element. Available selections depend on the items defined under Admin > Currencies & Rates > Currencies and Admin > Currencies & Rates > Currencies. The list contains both currencies and currency types. Once the element has been assigned to a tree, this field is no longer editable.
Rate Type: select the exchange rate type that will be used to determine the exchange rates for the element when switching currencies. Exchange rate types are defined in Admin > Currencies & Rates > Exchange Rate Types.
Assign to Group: this drop-down list contains all the comp groups currently existing in the comp tree. You can here define the group/sub-group to which you want to assign the comp element (see Assigning a comp element to a comp group).
Enable Effective Date: this checkbox enables you to use the effective date for the comp element in the individual planner. When this box is checked, managers will be able to specify an effective date, in addition to an amount, for the element (for more information, refer to the individual planner documentation). This box is checked by default when creating a comp element. In the case of the edition of a comp element, the box will be disabled if values are already assigned to the comp element.
Assigning a comp element to a comp group
All the compensation elements that have been defined in the v10 application can be assigned once in each compensation tree. In other words, a compensation element can be assigned to multiple compensation trees, but only once per tree.
To assign a comp element to a comp group/sub-group, proceed as follows:
Open the comp tree in which you want to work (see Viewing a Comp Tree in Working with comp trees).
Locate, in the list of comp elements, the item that you want to assign to a group/sub-group (see Searching for a comp element).
Open the comp element definition window (see Viewing a comp element).
Select, in the Assign to Group drop-down list, the comp group/sub-group to which you want to assign the element. The list contains all the comp groups/sub-groups that have been defined in the comp tree.
Click Save. The comp element is assigned to the selected group/sub-group and is removed from the "Comp Elements" list.
Removing a comp element from a comp group
To remove a compensation element from a compensation group, proceed a follows:
Open the comp tree in which you want to work (see Viewing a Comp Tree in Working with comp trees).
Locate, in the "Comp Groups" section, the group/sub-group from which you want to remove an element.
Click the tile corresponding to the element in the group. The "Edit Comp Element" window is opened.
Delete the value selected in the Assign to Group field.
Click Save. The element is removed from the group, and is now available again in the "Comp Elements" list
Deleting a comp element
To delete a compensation element, proceed as follows:
Make sure that the element is not assigned to any comp tree.
Open any comp tree in the list of available items (see Viewing a Comp Tree in Working with comp trees).
Locate, in the list of comp elements, the item that you want to delete (see Searching for a comp element).
Click

Click Delete in the message to confirm. The item is deleted from the system.
