Managing comp groups
Compensation groups are parent levels that constitute the comp tree. They make up the different comp categories into which the various comp elements are broken down.
Comp groups are strictly structural objects; managers will have no interaction with them working on the compensation of a given payee.
This section describes the procedures to be followed in order to:
Create comp groups (see Creating a comp group)
Create sub-groups (see Creating a comp sub-group)
Rename groups/sub-groups (see Renaming a comp group or sub-group)
Delete groups/sub-groups (see Deleting a comp group or sub-group)
Creating a comp group
At the time you create a comp tree, the system by default creates two comp groups within this tree: "Total Rewards" and "Below-the-Line". The "Below-the-Line group cannot be deleted from the structure of the comp tree, but it will be visible in the actual individual planner only if comp elements are assigned to it.
On top of these two default comp groups, additional groups can be created as required to fit the company's needs.
To create a comp group, proceed as follows:
Open the comp tree in which you want to work (see Viewing a Comp Tree in Working with comp trees).
In the "Comp Groups" section of the page, located on the left, click New Comp Group. A new group is added to the structure, with the default name "New Group", as illustrated in the following figure:
Comp group creation
Change the name of the new group (see Renaming a comp group or sub-group).
Repeat this procedure for each group that you want to create.
Creating a comp sub-group
To create a compensation sub-group (i.e. a structure nested inside a group) proceed as follows:
Open the comp tree in which you want to work (see Viewing a Comp Tree in Working with comp trees).
In the "Comp Groups" section of the page, located on the left, locate the comp group to which you want to add a sub-group, and then click
, at the right of the corresponding box. A contextual menu is opened, as illustrated in the following figure:
Comp group options
Click Create Sub-Group in the menu. A new sub-group is created under the parent group, with the name "New Group".
Rename the comp sub-group (see Renaming a comp group or sub-group).
Repeat this procedure for each group that you want to create.
Renaming a comp group or sub-group
After having created a comp group/sub-group (see Creating a comp group or Creating a Comp Tree in Working with comp trees), you can rename the newly created item in order to give it a more descriptive name (by default, all groups and sub-groups are named "New Group"). You might also need to rename a group/sub-group in order to modify your comp tree.
To rename a comp group/sub-group, proceed as follows:
Open the comp tree in which you want to work (see Viewing a Comp Tree in Working with comp trees).
Locate, in the "Comp Groups" section, the group or sub-group that you want to rename.
Click in the upper-right corner of the group box.
In the contextual menu that is displayed, click Rename. The name field becomes editable.
Enter a new name for the group/sub-group, and then click on the right of the field to confirm, as illustrated in the following figure:
Validating the new name of a comp group
The new name of the group/sub-group is saved in the system.
Deleting a comp group or sub-group
You can delete a compensation group/sub-group from a compensation tree as long as the tree has not been published.
You cannot delete the "Below-the-Line" comp group. You can delete the "Total Rewards" comp group only if another comp group has been created in the comp tree.
To delete a comp group/sub-group, proceed as follows:
Open the comp tree in which you want to work (see Viewing a Comp Tree in Working with comp trees).
Locate, in the tree structure, the group or sub-group that you want to delete, and then click
in the upper-right corner of the box group.
In the contextual menu that is displayed, click Delete. The item is deleted from the comp tree.
Items are immediately deleted when you click Delete (there is no confirmation message); exercise caution when using this feature.
