Working with comp trees
Compensation trees constitute the structure of actual compensation elements available for a given compensation round. They are composed of the following items:
Comp tree: the tree in itself is the parent structure that contains comp groups and elements
Comp groups/sub-groups: these are child items of comp tree. They contain comp elements that fall into the same category, such as benefits related to transportation
Comp elements/sub-elements: there are child items of a comp group. They are individual items to which a value is associated, such as a monthly phone allowance
This section of the beqom Web App enables you to:
Searching for a comp tree
The landing page of the "Compensation" component (i.e., the screen that is displayed when you open the component) contains the list of all the compensation trees currently existing in the system. Since this list can contain numerous items, a search field is provided at the top of the list.
To search for an existing comp tree, proceed as follows:
Open the "Compensation" component by clicking the
icon in the navigation bar. The comp tree list is displayed.
Enter one or several keywords in the Filter field, located above the list; the search is performed on-the-fly, as soon as you enter a character (i.e., you don't need to press Enter to start the search). The list of comp trees is filtered out in order to include only the item(s) matching your entry, as illustrated in the following figure:

Viewing a comp tree
To view the definition of an existing compensation tree, proceed as follows:
Locate, in the list of trees, the compensation tree whose definition you want to view (see Searching for a comp tree).
Click the tile corresponding to the tree in the list. The definition of the compensation tree is displayed in a new page. The structure of the compensation tree is split in two areas:
Compensation group: this section defines the actual structure of the tree. It can contain general groups and subgroups that will then contain compensation elements. This structure will be fixed, regardless of the elements added (or not) to each group/sub-group. For more information about compensation groups, see Managing comp groups.
Compensation elements: these individual elements correspond to the actual bonuses/advantages that your company offers and to which a given payee can be entitled. Depending on various characteristics (seniority, position, etc.), these elements may or may not be available in the individual planner of a given payee. For more information about compensation elements, see Managing comp elements.
Creating a comp tree
You can create, in the v10 application, as many compensation trees as you want. This can be very useful, for instance, if your organization applies different comp structures per country or per department.
To create a comp tree, proceed as follows:
Open the "Compensation" component by clicking the
icon in the navigation bar (see Viewing a comp tree).
Click New Comp Tree in the upper right corner of the application window. A contextual window is opened.
Type in a name for the new tree in the Name field of the "New Comp Tree" window, as illustrated in the following figure:
New comp tree creation window
Click Create Comp Tree. The contextual window is closed and you are directed to the definition page of the new tree. You can now proceed with the actual definition of the tree (see Managing comp groups and Managing comp elements).
Editing a comp tree
Edition of compensation trees is limited to the edition of the groups and elements inside the tree. You can:
Rename a comp group/sub-group (see Renaming a Comp Group or Sub-Group in Managing comp groups).
Delete a comp group/sub-group (see Deleting a Comp Group or Sub-Group in Managing comp groups).
Change the assignment of comp elements (see Assigning a Comp Element to a Comp Groupand Removing a Comp Element from a Comp Group in Managing comp elements).
Deleting a comp tree
To delete a compensation tree, proceed as follows:
Locate, in the list of comp trees, the tree that you want to delete (see Searching for a comp tree).
Hover your mouse cursor over the tree tile and then click
in the far right of the tile, as illustrated in the following figure:
Tree deletion
A confirmation message is displayed on screen.
Click Delete in the lower-right corner of the message. The comp tree is removed from the application.
