Configuring a widget homepage
Once you have created your homepage, you can start configuring the widget homepage and tailor it to the target audience for which you want to use the widget homepage. There are two operations that you can perform in the context of the configuration of a widget homepage:
You can customize the header of the widget homepage (for more information, see Customizing the widget hHomepage header)
You can manage the widgets that you want to display in the widget homepage (for more information, see Managing widgets)
Customizing the widget homepage header
The first step in the configuration of a widget homepage consists in customizing the page header. By default, when a widget homepage is created the accent color of the beqom application is applied to the header. You can however change that color or even use a background image and apply your company branding or specific visual to the header.
To customize the header of a widget homepage, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component of the Web App interface and then click Widget Homepages in the left-hand menu.
Open the widget homepage in which you want to work (see Managing widget homepage). The widget homepage is opened in the Page Header section.
-
In the Page Header section, configure the parameters of the header according to your preferences:
In the Welcome Message, you can add a message to be displayed in the widget homepage header. You can personalize the homepage for each employee by checking the Include Payee Name box, which inserts the @fullName variable, that is in turn replaced by the name of the logged in user in the actual homepage. In addition, you can insert the "@firstName" or "@lastName" tags which respectively display the logged in user's first name or last name.
In the Background Color section, you can choose whether you want to use a solid color or a background image by selecting Solid Color or Background Image respectively in the Visual Style drop-down list. If you have selected Solid Color, you can then enter a color in the Input Hex Value field and then click Apply; if you have selected Background Image, click Browse to upload a picture from your computer.
Use the Profile Selection toggle to define whether or not you want to display the name of the current profile and a drop-down list enabling users to change their profile directly from the homepage header.
Click Save. The page header is now saved and you can move on to the widget configuration (see Managing widgets).
Previewing a widget homepage
As you configure your widget homepage, you are offered the possibility to preview the widget homepage to better visualize the final page that end-users will see in the "Home" component, even before saving the current configuration. The preview allows you to see the widget homepage exactly as the end-users will see it when opening the application, which means that all color and images are rendered, and all links are clickable, which enables you to test your links before assigning the widget homepage to a profile.
To preview a widget homepage, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component of the Web App interface, and then click Widget Homepages in the left-hand menu. The list of widget homepages currently available in the system is displayed.
Locate in the list the widget homepage with which you want to work (see Managing widget homepage).
Click the corresponding tile; the widget homepage is opened in edit mode.
Click Preview in the upper-right corner of the application window. The widget homepage is opened in preview mode, as illustrated in the following figure:

About the layout of widget homepage
At the moment, it is not possible to customize the layout of the widget homepages. The order and positioning of the widgets within a given widget homepage is predetermined.
The following diagram illustrates the default order, layout and positioning in the widget homepage, when all available widgets are used in a single widget homepage:
It is important to note that any widget homepage is composed of two blocks:
A two-column block (left-hand block) containing the following widgets: Company Updates, Large Grid 1, Large Grid 2, Small Grid 1, Small Grid 2, Pie Chart 1, Pie Chart 2, Timelines, Information, Contacts and Image.
A one-column block (right-hand block) containing Links, Deep Links, Documents, Help & Guidance and Further Resources.
The two blocks that compose the widget homepage behave independently of each other.
When only certain selected widgets are used, the layout and order of the widget homepage obey to the following logic:
-
If any of the 2-column widgets of the left-hand block(Company Updates, Large Grid 1 and Large Grid 2) are not included, the other ones move up in the block.
Example: if the Large Grid 1 widget is not included to a given widget homepage, then Large Grid 2 is moved immediately under Company Updates. The right-hand block is unaffected by the change.
If any of the 1-column widgets of the left-hand block is not included to a given widget homepage, the other ones move up in sequence. The right-hand block is unaffected by the change.
If any of the widgets belonging to the right-hand block of the widget homepage are not included, then the other ones move up accordingly. The left-hand block is unaffected by the change.
