Managing Advanced Analytics data models
This section details the management of Advanced Analytics data models in the Web Application.
Using this page, you can:
Understanding the Advanced Analytics data model statuses
The status of an Advanced Analytics data model changes according to its current state. When accessing the Advanced Analytics data model list, the status of each data model is displayed with a specific color in front of the report name.
To better understand the data model statuses, refer to the following table:

Viewing an Advanced Analytics data model
To view an existing Advanced Analytics data model, with its parameters and data source(s), proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component and click the Reporting Models section. The Advanced Analytics tab opens.
In the data model list, click the model you want to view (see Searching for an existing advanced analytics data model).
The data model opens with its configured data sources, as illustrated in the following figure:

Viewing the properties of an Advanced Analytics data model
To view the properties of an Advanced Analytics data model, proceed as follow:
Access the Reporting Models section in the "Admin" component. The Advanced Analytics tab opens.
In the list of data models, hover the tile of the model for which you want to access the properties or directly click the tile.
Click the
icon (on hover) or the
icon (located at the top right of the screen after clicking the tile).
The data model properties panel opens on the right of the screen in view or edit mode, according to the permissions granted to your profile, as illustrated in the following figure:

Searching for an existing Advanced Analytics data model
To search for an existing Advanced Analytics data model, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component and click the Reporting Models section on the left menu. The Advanced Analytics tab opens.
In the Filter field, type the name (or part of the name) of the data model you want to access.
The list is filtered on-the-fly and the result corresponding to your search is displayed, as illustrated in the following figure:

Sorting the Advanced Analytics data model list
A sort functionality is available if you want to modify the order of the data models in the list.
To sort the Advanced Analytics data model list, proceed as follows:
Open the Reporting Models section in the "Admin" component. The Advanced Analytics tab opens.

Click the
icon located at the right of the Filter search bar to sort the list as described below:
one time to order the list in A to Z order
a second time to order the list in Z to A order
a third time to go back to the default order (latest created data model at the top)
Creating an Advanced Analytics data model
The beqom Web Application enables you to create Advanced Analytics data models, used as basis for the creation of analytic reports in the application.
To create an Advanced Analytics data model, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component of the WebApp interface, and then navigate to DATA > Reporting Models. The "Advanced Analytics" tab is opened by default.
Click the New Data Model button located at the right of the filter search bar. The "New Data Model" contextual window is opened, as illustrated in the following figure:

Define the properties of the data model as follows:
Name (mandatory): make sure that you give your data model a descriptive name that will enable others users to identify it quickly.
Description (optional): enter a description of the purpose of the data model.
Source: select the data source(s) (tables and/or views) that you want to use in the model
Data model type: select whether you want the data model to be a "Live" model (provides a direct connection to the data source and enables instant data refresh) or and"ElastiCube" model (allows to import data from multiple sources and treat them as one consolidated data set).
Click Save. The data model is created in the system and available in the Advanced Analytics data models list. At this stage, the model is only available to you. It will need to be shared for others users to be able to use it.
Building an ElastiCube Advanced Analytics data model
If you have selected "ElastiCube" when creating the Advanced Analytics data model, the model then needs to be built. The build imports the data for the tables/views added to the model and creates a static image of the data sources at the time of the build.
To build an ElastiCube data model, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component of the WebApp interface, and then navigate to DATA > Reporting Models. The "Advanced Analytics" tab is opened by default.
In the list of data models, click the ElastiCube Advanced Analytics data model that you want to build.
Click the Build button located in the lower-left corner of the data model page.
The "ElastiCube Build Information" window is opened, as illustrated in the following figure:

The information displayed in the window is described below:
Build status: current status of the ElastiCube build (In progress, Failed, Completed, Pending or Interrupted).
Started: start date and time of the build.
Last successful build: data at which the data model was last successfully built.
Changes pending: indicates whether or not there are modifications to the data model.
A success message is displayed at the top of the screen when the data model has been correctly built.
Publishing a live Advanced Analytics data model
If you have selected "Live" when creating the data model, the model then needs to be published. The publication of the model pushes the data into the model and makes the model available for the creation of Advanced Analytics reports in the application.
To publish a Live Advanced Analytics data model, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component of the WebApp interface, and then navigate to DATA > Reporting Models. The "Advanced Analytics" tab is opened by default.
In the list of data models, click the Live Advanced Analytics data model that you want to publish.
Click the Publish button located in the lower-left corner of the panel. A success message is displayed when the data model has been successfully published.
Managing the data sources of an Advanced Analytics data model
When at least two data sources are configured for a data model, the mapping functionality allows to link to each other the columns from the different sources.
Provided that you have the required permissions in the beqom application, the following actions are available:
Add new data sources to the data model (see Adding Data Sources to an Advanced Analytics Data Model)
Create a mapping from the entire data source (see Adding Mappings from an Advanced Analytics Data Source)
Create a mapping from a specific column of the data source (see Adding Mappings from a Specific Advanced Analytics Data Source Column)
Remove existing mappings (see Removing Column Mapping Between Advanced Analytics Data Sources)
Adding data sources to an Advanced Analytics data model
To add one or several data source(s) to an existing Advanced Analytics data model, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component and click the Reporting Models section on the left menu. The Advanced Analytics tab opens.
Select the data model to which you want to add data sources (see Searching for an Existing Advanced Analytics Data Model).
Click the Add Source button.
In the Source from Table/View window, select the data source(s) you want to add to the data model.
Add a new display name if needed.
Click out of the list.
Click Add.
Click Save at the bottom right of the screen to confirm the modifications.
Adding mappings from a specific Advanced Analytics data source column
To build relations between the columns of different data sources from a specific data source column, proceed as follows:
Open the Reporting Models section in the "Admin" component. The Advanced Analytics tab opens.
Choose a data model in which at least two data sources are configured.
Click the mapping button located on the right of the data source column, as shown in the following figure:

In the Data Source Mapping window, click the Add Mapping button.
Select a target table/view and a target column (only the compatible columns are listed), as shown in the following figure:

Click Apply. When a relation is configured, the mapping icon is visible on the right of the relevant data sources names and columns.
Adding mappings from an Advanced Analytics data source
To build relations between the columns of different data sources, proceed as follows
Open the Reporting Models section in the "Admin" component. The Advanced Analytics tab opens.
Click a data model in which at least two data sources are configured.
Click the mapping button located on the right of the data source name, as shown in the following figure:

In the Data Source Mapping window, click the Add Mapping button.
Select a source column, a target table/view and a target column, as shown in the following figure:

Click Apply. When a relation is configured, the mapping icon is visible on the right of the relevant data sources names and columns.
Removing column mapping between Advanced Analytics data sources
To remove existing column mappings between Advanced Analytics data sources, proceed as follows:
Open the Reporting Models section in the "Admin" component. The Advanced Analytics tab opens.
Select the data source to which you want to remove the column mapping (see Searching for an Existing Advanced Analytics Data Model).
Click the mapping icon located at right of the data source name or directly at the right of one the column name.
Remove the mapping using the "x" icon located at the right of the row in the Data Source Mapping window, as shown in the following figure:

Click Apply to confirm the modification.
Refreshing the schema of an Advanced Analytics data model
The refresh schema feature allows to refresh the data of the tables of an Advanced Analytics data model. The Refresh Schema button is displayed when opening a data model and after discarding the changes in a data model.
To refresh the schema of an Advanced Analytics data model, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component and click Reporting Models on the left menu.
In the Advanced Analytics tab, open the data model in which you want to work (see Searching for an existing advanced analytics data model).
Click the Refresh Schema button located at the bottom-right of the screen. The data model tables are refreshed.
Sharing an Advanced Analytics data model
The Advanced Analytics data model owner is the user that has created the model in the application; only the report owner or a user that has been granted the "Admin" permission can share the data model.
To share an Advanced Analytics data model with one or several profiles, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component of the WebApp interface, and then navigate to DATA > Reporting Models. The "Advanced Analytics" tab is opened by default.
In the list of data models, open the model that you own and want to share.
Click the Share button, located in the lower-left corner of the page.
In the Select Profile field select the profile(s) to which you want to share the data model, as illustrated in the following figure:

Select the permission you want to grant to each profile:
Admin: can view, delete, copy, share, delete the model and use it in a report
Edit: can view, edit, copy the model and use it in a report
Read: can view the model and use it in a report
Click Save. The model is now shared with the selected profile(s) with the corresponding permissions.
Editing the properties of an Advanced Analytics data model
Provided that you have the required permissions in the beqom application, you can edit Ad hoc data models as follows:
You can add a secondary data source to a data model (see Adding a Secondary Data Source to an Ad Hoc Data Model)
You can edit the parameters of a data source included in data model (see Editing a Data Source Included in an Ad Hoc Data Model and Removing a Column from an Ad Hoc Data Source Using the Quick Removal Feature)
You can remove a data source (see Removing a Data Source from an Ad Hoc Data Model)
Adding a secondary data source to an ad hoc data model
At the time of the creation of a data model in the v10 Web Application interface, you need to select a primary data source that cannot be removed from the model. In addition to this primary data source, you can add one or several secondary sources to the data model in order to make more information available to the users who will consume the data model.
To add a secondary data source to Ad hoc data model, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component and click the Reporting Models section.
Open the Ad hoc tab at the top right of the screen.
Open the data model with which you want to work (see Searching for an ad hoc data model).
In the model configuration page, click the Add Source button, located at the right of the data source search field. The "Source from Table/View" contextual window is opened.

Define the parameters of the new data source:
Select the table/view that you want to use as a data source in the Select Source field
Enter a display name for the source in the Source Display Name in Model field
Select the columns of the table/view that you want to use in the data model
Define the type of join that you want to use in the Join Type field and the associated condition(s)
Click Save. The new data source is added to the data model.
Editing a data source Included in an ad hoc data model
To edit the parameters of a data source included in an Ad hoc data model, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component and click the Reporting Models section.
Access the Ad hoc tab at the top right of the page.
Open the data model that you want to edit (see Searching for an ad hoc data model).
In the list of data sources included in the data model, locate the data source that you want to edit (see Searching for an ad hoc data model).
Click the
icon located at the far right of the row corresponding to the source. The "Source from Table/View" contextual window is opened.

Edit the parameters of the data source:
You can change the display name of the data source in the Source Display Name in Model field
You can change the columns from the data source used in the model by simply checking/unchecking the corresponding boxes
You can edit the join type (if any) and the related condition(s)
Click Save. The changes to the data source are saved in the data model.
Removing a Column from an Ad Hoc Data Source Using the Quick Removal Feature
While you can define the visibility of the columns of a data source when creating a data model and when editing the parameters of a data source (see Editing a data source included in an ad hoc data model), the v10 application also offers a convenient feature to quicly remove (i.e. hide) a column from a data source in a data model.
To do so, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component and click the Reporting Models section.
Click the Ad hoc tab at the top right of the page.
Open the data model in which you want to work (see Viewing an ad hoc data model).
In the list of data sources defined for the model, locate the source in which you want to remove columns.
Click the chevron icon, located at the left of the data source name. The list of columns in the data source is expanded, as illustrated in the following figure:

Locate the column that you want to remove.
Click the
icon, at the right of the column name. The column is removed from the data source and will no longer be useable in the data model.
Removing a data source from an ad hoc data model
As part of the edition of am Ad hoc data model, you can remove any secondary data source added to the model.
To remove a data source from a data model, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component and access the Reporting Models section.
Click the Ad hoc tab at the top right of the page.
Open the data model in which you want to work (see Viewing an ad hoc data model).
In the list of data sources, locate the source that you want to remove (if required, you can use the search field).
Click the
icon located at the right of the data source name, as illustrated in the following figure:

The data source is removed from the data model.
Deleting an ad hoc data model
To delete an Ad hoc data model from the system proceed as described below.
Open the "Admin" component and access the Reporting Models section.
Click the Ad hoc tab at the top right of the screen.
Locate, in the list of existing data models, the model that you want to delete (see Searching for an Existing Data Model).
Hover your mouse cursor over the tile corresponding to the model. A deletion icon is displayed at the right of the data model name, as illustrated in the following figure:

Click the
icon. A confirmation message is displayed.
Click Delete. The model is deleted from the system.
Cloning an Advanced Analytics data model
The beqom application offers the possibility to clone an existing Advanced Analytics data model. This functionality is useful to create a similar data model but with a different data model type, for example.
To clone an existing Advanced Analytics data model, proceed as follows:
Open the Advanced Analytics Models section in the "Admin" component.
In the list, locate the data model you want to duplicate (see Searching for an existing advanced analytics data model).
Hover your mouse cursor over the model tile and click the
icon, as illustrated in the following figure:
Modify the new data model properties as needed (name, description or data source type).
Click Save to confirm.
The data model is duplicated with the added modifications.
Deleting an Advanced Analytics data model
To delete an Advanced Analytics data model from the system, proceed as follows.
Open the Reporting Models section in the "Admin" component.
Click the Advanced Analytics tab at the top right of the page.
Locate, in the list of existing data models, the model that you want to delete (see Searching for an existing advanced analytics data model).
Hover your mouse cursor over the data model tile and click the
icon, as illustrated in the following figure:
Confirm by clicking the Delete button in the pop-up.
The data model is now removed from the application.
