Managing exchange rate types
In the context of currency and rate management in the v10 Web Application, exchange rate types offer you a means to attach multiple exchange rates for the same currency pair within an exchange rate group. This allows managers to apply different types of rates for the same currency pair depending on the context (period, type of transaction, location, etc.)
The management of exchange rate types is performed in the "Admin" component, under Currencies & Rates > Exchange Rate Types.
Using the admin interface, you can:
Viewing an exchange rate type
To view the list of exchange rate types currently defined in the system and view the details of an individual item, proceed as follows:
Open the "Admin" component of the v10 Web Application, by clicking
in the navigation bar.
In the component menu, located on the left of the screen, go to the Currencies & Rates section, and then click Exchange Rate Types. The list of exchange rate types currently defined in the application is displayed in the center panel, as illustrated in the following figure:

The list will always contain at least one item called "Default". This item is created by the system and will be used when no other type is defined.
Hover your mouse over the box corresponding to the rate type whose details you want to view.
Click the
icon located at the far right of the box. A contextual window containing the details of the exchange rate type is displayed.
Creating an exchange rate type
To create an exchange rate type and make it available for use in exchange rate groups, proceed as follows:
Open the exchange rate management page (see Viewing an exchange rate type).
Click the New Exchange Rate Type button, located in the upper-right part of the application screen. The "New Exchange Rate Type" contextual window is opened.

Enter the parameters of the new item in the relevant fields:
Type a name for the exchange rate type in the Name field. Make sure you give it a descriptive name.
Type a description for the exchange rate type in the Description field to explain the purpose of the exchange rate type.
Click Save. The new object is saved in the system and added to the list of available rate types.
Editing an exchange rate type
Provided that you have the necessary permission, you can edit any exchange rate type defined in the system, even of the exchange rate type is currently in use.
To edit an exchange rate type, proceed as follows:
Open the exchange rate management page (see Viewing an exchange rate type).
In the list of existing exchange rate types, locate the object that you want to edit. If required, use the search field provided at the top of the list.
Hover your mouse over the box corresponding to the exchange rate type that you want to edit and then click the
icon in the far right of the box. The "Edit Exchange Rate Type" contextual window is opened.
Perform the changes as required. You can edit both the Name and the Description fields.
Click Save. The contextual window is closed and your changes are saved in the system.
Deleting an exchange rate type
Provided that you have been granted the necessary right, you can delete exchange rate types defined in the system.
To delete an exchange rate type, proceed as follows:
Open the exchange rate management page (see Viewing an exchange rate type).
In the list of exchange rate types, locate the object that you want to delete. If required, use the search field provided above the list.
Hover your mouse over the box corresponding to the exchange rate type, and then click the
icon located in the far right of the box. A confirmation message is displayed.
Click Delete in the confirmation message. Exchange rate type is deleted from the system.
